Thickness Reports

Record Fischerscope / micrometer readings against the coating's spec — auto-pass/fail.

What they are

Thickness Reports are the dimensional evidence for each batch — the five-point (or more) readings taken with a Fischerscope XRF or a micrometer after plating. They prove the coating is within spec.

Menu: Plating → Certificates → Thickness Reports.

Batch Pick the batch that was just plated

Typical 5-point pattern

For flat parts, standard is:

  1. Centre
  2. 3 o'clock edge
  3. 6 o'clock edge
  4. 9 o'clock edge
  5. 12 o'clock edge

For complex geometry, customer spec may require additional points (e.g. inside bores, threads).

Auto-pass / fail

As readings are entered:

  • Each row compares against Spec Min / Max from the coating.
  • Green dot = in spec.
  • Red dot = out of spec.
  • Overall Status = worst-case: if any row fails, overall fails.

Overall Pass: the report closes cleanly, linked to CoC. Overall Fail: an NCR is auto-created; CoC cannot be signed until the NCR disposition is known (rework / scrap / accept-with-deviation).

Linking to CoC

Once saved, the thickness report is auto-linked to the CoC for the same batch + SO. CoC PDF pulls the readings.

Device calibration

The Device field links to a calibration.record. If the device is past its calibration due date, the thickness reading is flagged as suspect and the report state becomes Pending Recal. Fix by completing the calibration, then re-link.

What can go wrong

Readings all read 0

Either the device wasn't zeroed/calibrated, or the spec min is blank (so 0 passes trivially). Check Spec Min/Max on the coating config.

Fischerscope reads inconsistently

Suspect uncalibrated device. Check calibration record. Have the instrument re-zeroed.

Batch doesn't appear in dropdown

Batch is still in progress — thickness readings come AFTER plating operation completes. Finish the plating WO first.
